「there is」が中学校で学んだ「ディアリーズ」ではないことは、過去紹介しました。（there is, there wasの発音）
「there are／there were」も同様に、中学で学んだ「ディアラー／ディアワー」ではなく「ゼアラ／ゼアワ」と発音することをまず確認しましょう。
「There are flaws in your program.」
カタカナ表記では「ゼアラ」です。過去形の「there were」も見てみましょう。
「I was only one little person in that big crowded stadium filled with people, and believe me, there were so many people there, 」
カタカナ表記では「ゼアワ」です。では、「there is／there was」（ゼアス）に「a」が続いた場合の反応を見てみましょう。
「There is a reason she chose you rather than someone else.」
「there is」は（ゼアス）ですが、後続に「a」が来るだけで発音が「there is a」全体で（ゼア～ザ）と変化しました。
「To me, it seemed like there was a ton of people there.」
「there was」も（ゼアス）ですが、後続に「a」が来るだけで発音が「there was a」全体で（ゼワ～ザ）と変化します。
